There is not even an iota of doubt that Karthi, right from the day Paruthiveeran hit the silver screens, shot to limelight.

He proved his mettle in his maiden venture and thus bagged many prestigious offers. And he went on to win a Filmfare Best Actor award this year for his histrionics in Paruthiveeran. Karthi says that though he is very happy that he was given the award, he prefers to don roles different from Paruthiveeran. Karthi claims that he is not a fitness freak like his elder brother Surya but would try and reduce his weight. He said that his character in Paruthiveeran required him to be obese but he has done all that he could to reduce up to 10 kgs of weight for a film that is to be directed by Linguswamy. His on-screen pair in the film would be Nayanthara. Currently, Karthi is associated with Selvaraghavan’s Aayirathil Oruvan, which is due to hit the silver screen shortly.
