Silamabarasan is back to what he does best… Yes… creating ripples in the industry by his ‘out of the box’ thinking. During the shooting of Vallavan, the posters of the film triggered shock waves and excitement in the city and the same trend continued even in Kettavan when the film’s posters became a topic of discussion among film buffs.

Now with his next film Poodaa Poodi, the stills released have raised the curiosity to an all time high and has been the most discussed topic in various portals.

The major portion of Poodaa Poodi is scheduled to be shot at Toronto, Canada. Sarath Kumar’s daughter Varalakshmi was said to be considered for the role of heroine but was ruled out later. Now they are hunting for a girl who is well versed in dance. The lady who appears along with Silamabarasan in the stills is only a model and the hunt for a heroine for Poodaa Poodi continues.

After having epitomized the role of bubbly characters in all her films thus far, Bhavana will be seen in a very different get up altogether. This petite beauty has been signed up for a Telugu film in which she dons the police get up.

Though Bhavana is known for her bubbly looks, the actress seems to have taken extra efforts to shed a few kilos and now looks chic indeed. With her new makeover, Bhavana looks every bit like a police officer. The lady also has a few Telugu projects lined up.

With a whole bunch of movies, based out of Gandhian principles particularly ahimsa, having been released and faded into oblivion in Bollywood, Tamil cinema is just about taking up the Mahatma’s name and principles in hand. While infusing the preaching of Mahatma into the script without making it sound like a sermon is a way of doing it, smearing it all over for the sake of sticking to the rules of Tamil cinema bible that provides much emphasis on melodrama and less on logical thinking seems to be director Udayan’s method.

Although Aayudham Seivom only has the ingredients of a commercial potboiler – fights, an item number, a little more than below-average script, and a comedy track – what makes it stand a little apart is the basic idea of its plot. Not to mention, the essence is lost in the packaging – after all Sundar C has a fan following and has to maintain the decorum meant for his movies.

Sundar C plays the hit man who makes a living out of hooliganism and other petty crimes. He can be hired for any such deeds other than assassination because he considers killing as an act even beneath his standards. While he is hired to steal the documents that have crucial evidence relating to Collector Suganya and her family’s death from the old and good-hearted lawyer Vijayakumar, the old man is accidentally killed and in his death-bed wishes Sundar C to ‘live long’.

Sundar C, disturbed by this, is meanwhile directed by a court, for another offence, to perform social service in a Gandhi Museum in Madurai. He wins the curator Nasser’s heart by employing novel methods to increase the visitors to the museum – like announcing prizes such as a handshake with Malavika. After his brief stint at the museum, he embarks on a journey to probe and discover who is guilty of Suganya’s death and with the help of Gandhian principles brings the culprit before the eyes of law.

The role seems to be tailor-stitched to perfection for Sundar C. He performs stunts like an insurmountable hero and runs around trees with his lead pair Anjali on the other hand. Above all, he sets Manivannan right of his monstrosity with the help of a few patriotism-evoking dialogues on TV.

Kattrathu Tamil Anjali has long shed her widely accepted ‘homely’ image and the makeover has deprived her of her usual drapes leaving her with scanty outfits, in exotic locales. Vivek’s comedy fuels the otherwise dragging screenplay in many places and announces Vivek’s regaining glory. Manivannan, Vijaykumar, Napoleon, and Suganya are a few noteworthy members among the cast. Vindhya swings of the Tamil version of ‘Khaike Paan Banaaraswala’ while Malavika restricts herself to a few scenes devoid any gyration.

‘Innum Oru Vaanam’ sung by Girish and Chinmayi is the pick of Srikanth Deva’s music and K.S Selvaraj’s camera has done wonders to the song.

Producer Anjaneyulu has threatned actress Malavika that he will file defamtion charges on her for 75 lakhs!!

Malavika was in news a couple of days back for walking out of the shooting for the movie Kaarthigai, after the producer Anjaneyulu misbehaved with her. Now the new twist to the story is that the producer has threatned actress Malavika that he will file defamtion charges on her for 75 lakhs!!

It all started with 5 month pregnant Malavika refusing to do heavy dance movements for a song in Karthigai film. The actress has alledged that the producer, Anjaneyulu, came into her caravan and tried to physically examine her to find out whether she really pregnant. The outraged actress immediately called Nadigar Sangam President Sarath Kumar, who advised her to leave the sets immediately. She then flew to Mumbai.

Karthikai movie has Vikramadithya in the lead along with Malavika and Samiksha and is being directed by Veera.

The producer of the movie is now denying the charges and demanding that the actress get back to work and finish her portion in the movie as he will get into heavy losses if she fails to do so. The producer-director duo, Anjenayalu and veera are also planning to sue to actress if she fails to complete the film with them.

Meanwhile the actress has complained to the Nadigar Sangam and they have forwarded the complaint to the Tamil Film Producers Council for it to act on it.

Exactly one month after the release of his magnum opus Dasavatharam (June 13th 2008), Kamal Haasan will start working on his next project Marmayogi on July 13, 2008. This film’s inaugural pooja will be held at the Grand Hotel in Mumbai. As like Dasavatharam, Marmayogi will also be made in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu simultaneously. Sources close to Kamal say that Marmayogi will be made on a stupefying budget of Rs. 120 crores and the actor will produce the film on a
first copy basis for production major Pyramid Saimira. It is believed that Pyramid Saimira was in the race to procure the all India distribution rights of Dasavatharam but could only obtain the rights for Coimbatore area. Perhaps Marmayogi will soothe the ruffled feathers of Pryramid Saimira!

Prabhu Deva’s forthcoming directorial venture has finally been named. Earlier, the film was titled Singam but director Hari made it clear that he had registered the name. With this, Prabhu Deva and Vijay were on the lookout for an appropriate name. Everything seems to be settled now with the team finally zeroing in on a suitable title. Vijay’s next film will be called Vil!

That apart, seems like Vijay has missed his combination scenes with Vadivelu in Kuruvi so much that he left no stones unturned to make sure he is a part of Vil. According to sources close to producers, Vadivelu has been roped in for Vil for jaw dropping astronomical sums. It is also said that Vadivelu has had to amend his commitments for other already agreed projects to make room for Vijay.

Danush’s next movie after Padikkathavan will be a remake of Bollywood hit movie ‘Jab We Met’. The buzz was that Danush and Trisha will be playing the lead roles in the movie. But looks like Shriya Saran who is trying to regain her hold in Kollywood has been sucessful in convincing the producers Moser Baer in roping her opposite to Danush in this yet to be titled film.

Jab We Met will be produced in Tamil by Moserbaer and it would go to floors soon after Dhanush completes Padikathavan. Shreya is currently acting in Kanthaswamy with Vikram and a movie opposite Sarath Kumar. The Danush, Shriya pair will be seen again in this movie after their successful Thiruvilayadal Arambam.
